Privacy Policy

foo-ball is a free Soccer Cup bracket challenge for 2026. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, who processes it on our behalf, and the choices and rights you have. We collect the minimum needed to run the game and we do not sell your data.
“foo-ball,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of the foo-ball app and the foo-ball.com website. The app is operated from the United States. This policy covers both the app and the website.
Information we collect
- Account information.When you sign in with Apple, we receive a unique Apple identifier and, only if you choose to share it, your name. Apple may relay a private “Hide My Email” address rather than your real one. If you sign in with an email and password instead, we store your email address and a securely hashed password (handled by our authentication provider). Your display name defaults to “Player” until you change it.
- Your picks and leagues. The group-stage group winner/runner-up picks, third-place selections, and knockout-bracket winners you choose, and the private leagues you create or join (including the league name and invite code).
- Profile. Your display name and an optional country flag avatar.
- Notifications. If you enable push notifications, we store a device token and your notification preferences (including optional quiet hours and time zone) so we can send the match, scoring, and league alerts you opt into.
- Basic usage and technical data. Standard information needed to operate and secure the service, such as your IP address and timestamps logged by our hosting and backend providers, and crash or error information. We do not run a third-party analytics or ad-tracking SDK in the app.
How we use your information
To run the game, and only for that. Specifically, we use it to:
- create and authenticate your account;
- save your picks and score them as matches are played;
- build the leaderboards for the leagues you belong to;
- send the notifications you opt into;
- provide support and respond to your requests;
- keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and fix bugs;
- comply with our legal obligations.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Legal bases (EEA/UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your data on these legal bases: performance of a contract (to give you the game you signed up for), consent (for push notifications, which you can turn off at any time), legitimate interests (to secure the service, prevent abuse, and improve reliability), and legal obligation (where the law requires us to keep or disclose information).
What other players can see
Members of a league can see your display name, your flag avatar, and your standing on that league's leaderboard. Your individual picks stay private until the relevant phase locks, after which they may be visible to other members of that league. You are not discoverable to people outside the leagues you join.
Scoring data
The app shows a win-probability figure for matches, used to calculate the upset bonus. These figures are derived from public market data on our servers and are used for scoring only. They are not betting odds. The app has no betting features and no real-money wagering.
Service providers we share data with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We use a small number of vetted providers to run the service, who process data on our instructions:
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, and the Apple Push Notification service for alerts. Privacy policy.
- Supabase — our backend, which stores your account, picks, leagues, and notification settings. Privacy policy.
- Vercel — hosts the foo-ball.com website. Privacy policy.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.
International transfers
We are based in the United States, and our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. If you access foo-ball from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. Where required, our providers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses for these transfers.
Data retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, picks, league memberships, and scores are removed (see below). Some records may persist briefly in backups or in security and audit logs, and we keep information longer only where the law requires it.
Security
Access to your data is protected by authentication and database row-level security so that, in general, you can only read and change your own records. Data is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information and limit who can access it.
Deleting your account and data
You can permanently delete your account at any time from inside the app, under Settings → Delete account. This removes your profile, picks, league memberships, and scores. If you were the commissioner of a league, it is reassigned to another member, or removed if you were the only member.
You can also request deletion by emailing support@foo-ball.com from the address on your account, and we will delete your data.
Children's privacy
foo-ball is rated 4+ and is suitable for a general audience, but it is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights (GDPR)
If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, export a copy (portability), restrict or object to certain processing, and withdraw consent at any time. You can exercise most of these directly in the app, or by emailing us. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Your rights (California / CCPA & CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request access to or deletion of it, to correct inaccurate information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. To make a request, email us at the address below.
Cookies and local storage
The foo-ball.com website is a static marketing page and does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Our hosting provider may set strictly necessary cookies or store basic technical data needed to serve and secure the site. The app stores your sign-in session on your device so you stay logged in.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and for significant changes we will provide a more prominent notice. Continued use of foo-ball after an update means you accept the revised policy.
